United Petfood is an exclusive private label manufacturer in the field of petfood. In 2018, the company opened a new factory in Biskupice. Thanks to establishing cooperation with PROMAG S.A. In the scope of equipping the newly built warehouse with a dense storage system, it was possible to optimize the area of warehouse management both in terms of using the available space and in terms of the efficiency of warehouse operations.

Te solution proposed by PROMAG S.A. consisted in the installation of five shelving blocks of a dense storage system together with three AutoMAG radio controlled shuttles. It is an innovative solution, tailored to the customer's business model, which contributes to a significant increase in the use of available storage space relative to standard row pallet racks. At the same time, it helps to minimize the amount of damage caused by the use of the rack, and improves the safety of employees. Loading and unloading of the loading unit is possible on both sides of the so-called slots thanks to the implementation of rack service in the FIFO system. United Petfood operates a small number of indexes of stored goods, thanks to which it was possible to prepare a project that finally evolved into more than 4,150 pallet spaces in dense storage racks. In the channel of the rack itself, the pallet transport is carried out using a semi-automatic AutoMAG satellite - controlled by a simple-to-use remote control.

This ensures precise and collision-free pallet movement in the rack, which translates directly to minimizing losses associated with damage to the goods. With this solution, there is no need for the trolley operator to enter the rack channel, which contributes to a significant increase in the security of the system. Each rack channel is secured with special trolley course limiters, tailored to individual customer needs, which translates into minimizing the possibility of hitting a rack with a forklift truck. This limits the costs of possible replacement of damaged components.

 

Summing up, thanks to the implementation of the dense storage shelving system, we managed to minimize the number of aisles to the necessary minimum. This allowed to limit the number of forklifts operating in the rack blocks and to reduce the times of in-store operations.
